Why Partner with Operation Eyesight?

Your Impact Through Localized Action

As our partner, your contribution empowers our localized approach. Unlike distant interventions, your support fuels projects where our teams are on the ground, directly addressing and solving real-time challenges in eye health.

Your Role:

  • Fund tangible programs on the ground in the countries where we work. Your partnership will directly prevent blindness and restore sight for people who need your support right now.
  • Enable our local teams to maintain high accountability and manage projects effectively from inception to completion.
  • Or enhance access to a range of eye health care by collaborating and leveraging each other’s expertise in the field.

Our Thematic Programming Areas

Your funding helps enhance hospital capacities to serve as advanced care and referral centres. For instance, you could support the upgrading of operating theatres or training of medical staff, ensuring that high-quality eye care services are delivered. Learn more on our hospital strengthening page.

Your support empowers community health workers to provide frontline eye care and education, creating a foundation for sustainable health practices within communities. Learn more on our community eye health page.

By supporting this area, you address the crucial links between eye health and other aspects of primary health care, such as nutrition and hygiene, directly impacting overall community well-being. Learn more on our integrated eye health page.

Your partnership could fund specific interventions like trachoma control programs or provide resources for combating glaucoma, significantly reducing avoidable vision loss. Learn more on our disease control page.

  • “The School-Based Eye Health Program has brought essential eye care services closer to children and the wider community who might otherwise have gone unnoticed. Early detection and timely treatment have allowed many students to continue their education free from the burden of vision problems. The ophthalmic equipment provided through the project, combined with the comprehensive training we received, has greatly enhanced our skills and knowledge. Through the door-to-door survey, we reached many individuals who had lived with untreated eye conditions for years, some believing their problems were untreatable and even resorting to harmful traditional practices, such as burning in-turned eyelashes. Today, thanks to this program, many of these patients are receiving proper care and regaining their sight. As a hospital, we are proud to be part of this impactful and life-changing initiative.”

    – Semachew Mebrat, Optometrist, Addis Alem Vision Center, Ethiopia
