Project Coordinator, Ajumako Essiam District
Daniel Kwame Tanga is an experienced social and community development professional with extensive knowledge in social work and community development. He has skills and experience in community entry, stakeholder engagement, relationship management and more.
Daniel joined Operation Eyesight in October 2024 as the Project Coordinator for our Hospital-Based Community Eye Health Project (Ajumako-HBCEHP). His duties include ensuring the coordination and coherence of all project components by working closely with the stakeholders and tracking and monitoring progress.
Daniel holds a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Development Studies from the Evangelical Presbyterian University College, Ho and a diploma in community development from the Rural Development College, Kwaso-Ashanti Region.
Cumulatively, Daniel has over seven years of work experience within the development space. He has worked as a field supervisor on the UNICEF Urban Sanitation Project where he led his former organization’s (Edsam Social Network) software efforts in communities and institutions, leading to the attainment of the first-ever urban ‘Open Defecation-Free’ community in Ghana. He has also served as the field supervisor for Asokore Mampong District for The West Africa Program to Combat Aids and STIs (WAPCAS).
Prior to joining Operation Eyesight, Daniel worked with Mercy Project Ghana where he supported efforts to rescue children who are victims of trafficking and slavery along the Volta Lake, liaising with agencies such as the Ghana Police Service and Department of Social Welfare. He also facilitated community development and aquaculture projects.
Daniel hopes to leverage his vast years of community work experience and Operation Eyesight’s resources to solidify existing community relationships while creating new paths and bringing quality eye health care services to the most underserved communities.
In his leisure hours, he loves to travel to see new places.
