Rob Ohlson

Director

Rob Ohlson is the President of Maillot Homes, a Calgary custom home builder. He has been a friend and supporter of Operation Eyesight for nearly 18 years. He previously served as Vice-Chair (2012-2014), Board Chair (2014-2016) and Past Chair (2016-2019).

Rob first got involved with Operation Eyesight in 2005 as a way of celebrating his late father’s life and career in India. In his honour, Rob funded the Bob Ohlson Centre for Sight in Visakhapatnam, India and later travelled overseas to inaugurate the centre in person.

“Visiting Operation Eyesight’s various countries of work only inspires me more when it comes to our mission and the impact that we can have together,” Rob says.

Rob has also spent time with our teams in Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda and Zambia. In 2016, he championed our “Washing Away Blindness” campaign, bringing fresh water to 24 communities in Zambia and helping to prevent the spread of blinding trachoma. He was later featured in CTV Calgary’s “Inspired Albertan” series.

Having grown up in Libya, Canada and Malaysia, Rob has a keen understanding of different cultures and development issues

Rob says he enjoys triathlons but doesn’t ride his bike outside anymore since he ran into a deer and required surgery.

The deer was ok.
