Operation Eyesight’s focus is on countries where people are particularly threatened by blindness and low vision. Today, we continue to work in India and the African countries of Kenya, Ghana and Zambia. We’re also expanding our programs to Nepal and Bangladesh. In all of these countries, the conditions that lead to blindness are widespread and deeply rooted. Loss of sight can lead to abject poverty or even death.
But the good news is that most blindness – 80 percent! – can be prevented or cured. That is the core of our work.
